OCD and anxiety don't have to run your life.

If you understand your patterns intellectually but can't think your way out of them, specialized treatment can help you respond differently.

Sound familiar?

Every new health symptom that crops up becomes some sort of mental medical emergency that needs to be sorted.

You replay conversations, checking whether you said something wrong. You look at your emails just to make sure you didn't write something embarrassing.

You love your partner... right? Yes. But do you love them enough? Do they love YOU enough? What is even enough?

You've been to therapy before. You talked through your fears, felt better for a week, and then the same doubt came back.

You know that the thought is probably not true, but that doesn't make it go away.

You monitor your own reactions, trying to figure out what your feelings mean.

The harder you try to get certainty about something, the more you keep coming back to the same questions.

You see the pattern itself is the problem now, not the fear itself.

What Specialized Treatment Actually Looks Like

01

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

The gold standard for OCD treatment which has the largest evidence basis. ERP involves gradually facing situations that trigger anxiety while resisting the urge to perform compulsions. The goal is to build tolerance for uncertainty and learn that the compulsions aren't necessary. Exposures are collaborative and paced to be challenging. However, the pace is ultimately your decision.

02

Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT)

I-CBT focuses on the reasoning process that makes obsessional doubts feel credible. It examines how the mind constructs the fear in the first place and helps you disengage from the obsessional narrative before it takes hold.

03

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps you stop fighting your thoughts and feelings. Practice noticing thoughts without acting on them, and move toward fear even when anxiety is present.

These approaches are used in combination based on what fits your presentation.

Anxiety and OCD attack what you care about the most.

Shame often keeps important concerns out of therapy. I'm comfortable discussing sex, intimacy, relationship dynamics, and the ways past experiences shape present anxiety, directly and non-judgmentally.

About Katherine

I'm Katherine Rogers, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. I work exclusively online with adults throughout the state. My practice is focused on OCD, anxiety, and trauma, especially within the context of relationship fears, health concerns, and sexual and intimacy issues. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 15 years teaching meditation and lived as an ordained Zen Buddhist nun in the Plum Village tradition founded by Thích Nhất Hạnh. That background informs how I think about rumination and the relationship between thoughts and suffering. However, I am a strong proponent of evidence-based practices. Mindfulness, when it's useful, is one tool among several.  For three years, I led weekly experiential workshops in NYC on stage presence, overcoming creative blocks, and mindful improvisation. Participants practiced moving their bodies despite self-consciousness and perfectionism. This work continues to inform my approach to therapy.
